Butt Augmentation FAQs

If you’re considering butt augmentation, you may have some questions about what to expect. Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions about butt augmentation.

Am I a Good Candidate for Butt Augmentation?

If you have a small, flat, or sagging butt and are interested in improving its shape, you may be a candidate for butt augmentation surgery. To qualify, you should have a desire for improvement with realistic expectations. Candidates need to be at least 18 years old and in good health. You should also have enough fat from other areas of your body to be harvested for the procedure. Any interested individuals should meet with Dr. Scroggins to discuss their options for butt augmentation.

What Is the Procedure Like?

Depending on your unique needs, this procedure can be performed in the surgeon’s office surgical suite or in a nearby hospital. Dr. Scroggins performs butt augmentation using the fat transfer technique, typically with the patient under general anesthesia. First, he will perform liposuction on your abdomen, hips, thighs, or other areas to harvest the excess fat. The extracted fat is purified, and Dr. Scroggins will then strategically inject these fat cells into your buttocks to improve the shape and size. The surgery is entirely customized for the patient’s desires and anatomy.

How Do I Prepare for the Procedure?

During your consultation with Dr. Scroggins, he will go over all the details regarding how to prepare for the procedure. You will need to inform him of any medications you are taking and any medical conditions you have. If you smoke, stop smoking at least two weeks before the procedure. You may also need to stop taking certain medications or supplements and acquire others for your recovery period. You will need to plan for someone to drive you home from the procedure.

Are There Any Risks or Side Effects With Butt Augmentation?

As with any surgery, there are some risks and side effects associated with butt augmentation. These may include adverse reactions to anesthesia, bleeding, blood clots, infections, and asymmetry. However, with fat injections, there is no foreign material or implant to which the body may negatively respond. Dr. Scroggins can answer all your specific questions about the potential side effects and risks.

What Will Recovery Be Like?

After surgery, you will be given a special compression undergarment to wear for one week to help your body heal. Some patients may need to stay in the hospital overnight or longer to recover. You may experience some pain or discomfort that should ultimately subside in a few days. Swelling will subside within a few weeks. While some patients can return to work within a few days, most patients return to work within one to two weeks. You may be able to resume many normal activities within a short time, but you should avoid exercise and strenuous activities for six weeks.

How Long Until Results Are Visible?

Results are visible immediately after the procedure but may be difficult to decipher due to swelling. The full results will become more noticeable within a few weeks after the majority of swelling goes down.

Do the Results Look Natural?

Butt augmentation with the fat transfer technique will appear natural and provide subtle enhancement to the shape and size of your buttocks. The improvements to your butt will give you a curvier body shape.
